The photographs on our web site are copyrighted by Seattle Photographs and may not be used without payment of the appropriate license fee. These are "rights managed" photographs, and the rates for their use are based upon the size and purpose for which the image is used. No photographs on this web site are in the public domain.

Our photographs are offered in two ways: 1. Digital Stock Photography, and 2. Fine art Prints.

Traditionally, license fees are based on the type of use, placement, industry, size, circulation, distribution area, and time period, among other factors. Calculating the license fee based upon the traditional pricing model can be quite complicated. Unlike most stock photo agencies, Seattle Photographs uses a simplified pricing model:

Personal Use Rates

• $15 - Web Size - roughly 640 x 480 pixels

• $25 - 1 Mpix - about 800 x 1200 pixels

• $45 - 4 megapixels - 1600 x 2400 pixels

• $95 - Original - varies from 6 to 13 megapixels and from 2000 x 3000 to 2900 x 4300 pixels

Commercial Use Rates

• $25 - Web Size - roughly 640 x 480 pixels

• $75 - 4 megapixels - 1600 x 2400 pixels

There is no warranty, express or implied, with the purchase of this digital image. Neither Seattle Photographs nor SmugMug will be liable for any claims, or incidental, consequential or other damages arising out of this license or buyer's use of the Media.

Downloaded photographs are high quality JPEG files. TIFF files are available at no extra cost, and are deliverable via FTP or mailed on a CD. If you need a TIFF file of any photograph you have downloaded please e-mail your request to howard@seattlephotographs.com

Our photographs are printed on Kodak Edge paper for Glossy or Matte finishes, and Kodak Supra Endura for the Lustre finish.

Here's what that means:

Glossy: coated paper with a very smooth, shiny reflective surface. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and look slick to the touch when not under glass.  This finish has an excellent dynamic range and color - slightly more "pop" than the matte paper, though less noticeable once framed.  Photos will have a shiny finish, colors will be vibrant, and images will be crisp and sharp

Matte: matte paper has a very smooth, non-glare surface. Matte finishes have a lower-contrast when printed and are often used to enhance the texture of a print.  Matte prints are fingerprint and smudge resistant, and work very well with Black & White photos.  Much less glare than glossy.

Lustre:  lustre is our premier paper offering,  and is considered a professional-grade paper. Lustre has a slight gloss with a subtle, often pearl-like texture. Lustre paper has deeper color-saturation and higher contrast than matte and is materially 'thicker,' or heavier, than consumer paper.

Longevity:  Kodak Supra Endura (Lustre finish) and Edge (Glossy, Matte finishes) are "archive quality" papers, designed to last for generations.  Kodak's tested light-keeping is equivalent to 100+ years before noticeable fading occurs in a typical home display, and over 200 years in dark storage. 

*Framed & matted prints are not sold via the shopping cart. Please call or e-mail us with the name and size of the print you would like framed. Glass means either glass, Lexan XL 10, Acrylite OP-3 or similar material

Prints with Box Frame

Your image is printed on fine art quality paper, then mounted onto a rigid, Masonite board and set in a glassless 2" x 3/8" wooden box frame.

Choose Black or Chocolate stained wood to complement your print.

Prints on Canvas

Printed on heavy duty PremierArt Water Resistant Canvas, then finished with a dry lamination process that is UV and water resistant.

Rolled canvas prints are more affordable than our Gallery Wrap Mounted Canvas Prints, because they are not mounted on a wooden frame. Your rolled canvas will come with extra canvas on the edges to provide many framing options.

They ship rolled, in very sturdy tubes.

Gallery Wrap Mounted Canvas Prints

Printed on heavy duty PremierArt Water Resistant Canvas, then finished with a dry lamination process that is UV and water resistant.

The canvas is stretched and then wrapped over a 1 3/8" thick wooden frame. Your photo extends to cover the sides of the frame for a beautiful presentation.

Note: Since the outer edge of your photo will be used for the sides of the frame, not all of your photo will be visible when an admirer views it from the front.

You can hire a photographer to shoot exactly the type of photographs you need. Our hourly rate is $75/hr with a two hour minimum and $50/hr thereafter.

Once the photo shoot is finished and the photographs have been processed, they will be uploaded to a password protected section of our web site. You can view and select the photographs you would like to use, and download high resolution JPEG photographs right off the web site. High resolution TIFF files are also available at no extra charge, and these would be mailed to you on a CD as these can be up to 36 MB each.

Each photograph will be cropped as needed, then color corrected, with adjustments in contrast, tone and perspective.
